Unity dosc ostroznie podchodzi do technologii "rocker".

A ponizej przeklejka wywiadu:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What are the biggest trends shaping the hardgoods market for next year?

Rocker or reverse camber boards are going to continue to be big. I think environmentally friendly materials will also continue to be a big trend.

How have you responded to the industry-wide oversupply of last season?

Unity has never over produced it’s products. So we did not do anything different this year as far as production numbers versus orders. I think the industry as a whole is suffering right now from the continued over production of the bigger snowboard companies over the past ten years. I think we are suffering not only from the economic collapse but also from the snowboard market being flooded with too much product for too many years.

How are you working with retailers to help ensure strong margins?

We are doing a lot of on-snow demos to help support our retailers and to try to help them sell in-line product.

How do you see the hardgoods marketplace evolving next year?

I think most companies are already starting to reduce their over production. Which will be a good thing for the industry as a whole. We need the consumer to start buying in-line product again and not to expect to buy new boards at discount swap sales. We need to get production numbers under control so that there is not as much overstock every year.

What are price points doing?

I think price points have to stay the same as they’ve been for the most part.

What are the biggest forces shaping the changes and developments you’ve made to your boards?

We are trying to push reverse camber design. We are also really looking into some eco-friendly materials. We’re working with a new eco-friendly epoxy resin. The epoxy is the most toxic part of board building. So, if we can somehow find a non-petroleum based epoxy it could be a huge step in making a true eco-friendly board.

What’s your philosophy on camber these days?

I think it is still good for big mountain lines. High speed run outs, etc. Reverse camber is super fun and forgiving. I think it’s great to have a totally new way of making boards to experiment with.

What market segment are you focusing on?

Core riders. We are a grass roots company making boards in the mountains of Colorado. We ride a lot and we make boards that we like to ride. Boards for riders who ride hard and demand a lot from their boards.

I zakonczenie mi sie najbardziej podoba... :)
